I am looking forward to preparing Polvoron for moms this coming Mother’s Day. This crumbly cookie/candy made from toasted flour, sugar and butter is such a sweet treat.
Polvoron is a type of shortbread that is produced mostly in Spain and latin America. It is also popular in the Philippines. “Polvo” means powder in Spanish which translates to “powder cookie.”
Let me share with you this no-fail Polvoron recipe. Though the recipe is easy to follow, the most important material in making this treat is to have a Polvoron molder.
2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup powdered milk
1/2 cup melted butter
1 cup confectioner sugar
1. Toast the flour in medium heat until golden brown, stirring constantly.
2. Transfer the toasted flour in a big bowl. While the flour is still warm, mix in the powdered milk, confectioner sugar and the melted butter.
3. Shape into rounds or ovals using the polvoron molder.
4. Wrap individually in a waxed paper or cellophane.
